Movie review- Chaava
So “Chaava” is trending in the cinemas currently. Here is my candid point of view on it:
Well
for starters Vicky Kaushal is worth all the hype. Playing the valorous role of Sambhaji
or lovingly called “Shambhu”, the movie portrays the life of the descendant of
the timeless Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shambhu carried a lot of heaviness in his heart
(or trauma as Gen Z would call it) due to the loss of his mother at an early
age. But he always used it as a guiding light versus letting it bog him down.
Though exaggerated in some scenes, his unshakable courage and calm in the
moment is worth aiming for. Today we may not actually have to fight a tiger
like Shambhu did (actually we may, considering us encroaching on the homes of
the wild) but it is symbolic that adverse time come uninformed and in such
situation our calm becomes are greatest strength.
Shambhu’s
wife or Shri Sakhi as he called her played the role of an ideal partner. She
did indeed act as his “Sakhi” which means a friend with the kind of
understanding they shared. Another important thing which her character taught
was unconditional trust and faith in her partner.
Shambhu
valued the people who shaped him in his early days and kept them close. They
were his greatest allies and also formed a solid support system for him.
He
was also an excellent strategist. He recognized that the Mughal army was much
larger in number, and he understood that not all battles can be fought with
strength.
I’ll
end with my favorite dialogue from the movie which was delivered by Zinat-un-Nissa
Begum who played the role of emperor Aurangzeb’s daughter:
“Sambhaji
toh apne maut ka jashna manake chala gaya, aur hume humari zindagi ka maatam
manane chod gaya”
Loosely
translated as….."Sambhaji left after celebrating his death, and
left us to mourn our lives."
Hope you enjoy the movie!

PS:
I watched it in 4DX….but the experience was hyped. Normal 2D would be just
fine.
